World Trigger

Out of nowhere, a gate from another world appears and unleashes “Neighbors” – interdimensional monsters – onto peaceful Mikado City. Their man-made weapons are no match for the invaders and the city falls quickly. Just when all seems lost, the enigmatic Border Defense Agency appears wielding specialized tech called “Triggers” and repels the invasion. Four years on, they remain the stalwart protectors of Mikado City and are celebrated as heroes.
Unbeknownst to most, Yuuma Kuga is a transfer student to First Mikado City High School – a school that has ties to Border. His arrival raises eyebrows as it is seen as suspicious to move to such a dangerous area. Bullied by his peers, Border’s trainee Osamu Mikumo comes to his rescue, despite harboring doubts about him. Their situation takes a dark turn when a Neighbor emerges from a forbidden zone gate. Osamu struggles to fend it off with his Trigger, while Yuuma dispatches it easily. Inquiring about Yuuma’s relationship to Border, Osamu discovers he is not an agent at all – but a Neighbor himself.
